Only twice has a Pope spoken ex cathedra - once, in 1854, declaring the dogma of the Immaculate Conception, and once, in 1950, declaring the dogma of the Assumption, celebrated as a Solemnity in the Catholic Church every year on August 15th. Papal infallibility was declared a dogma in a doctrine of faith during the first Vatican Council in 1870. Other dogmas exist, but only these two Marian Dogmas are universally considered ex cathedra dogmas.

Interestingly, most, not all, scholars, and the CDF (Congregation for the Doctrine of Faith) recognize the dogma of the beatific vision, Benedictus Deus, declared in 1336 by Pope Benedict XII. This dogma declares that the souls of the just see the divine essence before the general resurrection.
